President
Tanya Tijerina
My name is Tanya Tijerina and I’m the President of ODK. I’m a Biology/Pre-med major with a minor in SPN, I’m currently a senior and I plan to graduate in Fall 2010. I’m from the border (Eagle Pass, TX/Piedras Negras, Mexico). I’m a member of Tri-Beta Bio Honor Society, Honors Alliance, the Pre-Med Society and Catholic Student Association. I also work on campus at the COLFA Advising Center and volunteer in several places as often as possible.
Vice President
Kirissa Kabanek
My name is Kirissa Kabanek and I am the Vice President of ODK. I am a senior at UTSA, and a non-traditional student, planning to graduate in December of 2010. I am an Interdisciplinary Studies major in the COEHD and plan to be certified to teach EC-6 (Early Childhood-6th grade). I would love to teach Kindergarten, and foster in the intellectual and social development of children during their formative years. I hope that after teaching for a couple years, I will continue my education and pursue a Masters in Teaching. I am also a member of IRA (International Reading Association) and Alpha Chi. When I am not busy with school, I teach 7 year olds at church and spend time with my husband and two kids. ODK has provided me with the opportunity to serve the community, grow as a leader, and meet awesome new people!
Secretary
Felicia Ruiz
My name is Felicia Ruiz and I am the secretary for ODK. I am a Economics major. I will be a senior for the 2009-2010 school year and plan to graduate May 2010. I am also a member of Honors Alliance and a Senator for the College of Business for the Student Government Association. When I am not at school, I volunteer with a special needs self advocacy group called SALSA. I also enjoy spending time with my husband, Daniel, and son Aiden.
Treasurer
Fei-fei Yang
My name is Fei-fei Yang, for short just call me Fei, and I am the Treasure of ODK. Currently, I am a junior at UTSA and my major is Finance. I was born in China but was raised in Berlin, Germany. I went to many different high schools all over Europe. I love to travel and learn about different customs and cultures. I am a helpful and goal orientated person who has high standards of achievements. Recently, I became a member of Honors Alliance. In addition to that, I am also a member of Delta Sigma Pi which is a business professional fraternity that focuses on developing future business leaders.
Historian
Kathryn Bro
My name is Kathryn Bro and I am the Historian for ODK. I’m a senior at UTSA majoring in Business Management, I plan on graduating in December of 2010. I am also the Historian for the Texas Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Chi and a member of Golden Key International Honour Society. School keeps me pretty busy, but in my spare time I enjoy traveling and volunteering. I also run my own business as an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay. Webmaster
Melissa Moya
My name is Melissa Moya I am the webmaster for Omicron Delta Kappa. I am a senior and will be graduating in Spring 2010. I am also a member of Alpha Chi, Honors Alliance, and Golden Key. I am the webmaster for Honors Alliance as well as the Vice President. I am looking forward to graduating and beginning my teaching career. I enjoy working with children of all ages but I love teaching older students like 3rd grade through 5th. They are a challenge but that is what I love about my students they keep me busy.
Alumni Adviser
Andrea Barrington
My name is Andrea Barrington and I am the Alumni Adviser of ODK.
I am originally from Austin and moved to San Antonio in 2005. I graduated from UTSA in Fall 2008 with a B.S. in Biology. I am currently taking prereqs to apply towards a masters program and med school. I am also the webmaster for Honors Alliance and the President for Tri-Beta the Biological Honor Society. Besides my classes and all my student organizations, I currently spend my time working on campus at The South Texas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases and at a doctors office as a medical assistant. I also volunteer for various nonprofit organizations.
Faculty Secretary
Charlin Jones
Charlin is the Faculty Secretary to the UTSA Circle. She has served in this role since 2005. Charlin has been a member of ODK since 2004. She serves as the Assistant Director to the Special Events Center at UTSA. She received both her master's and bachelor's degrees from UTSA. In addition to working with ODK Charlin also works with 6 other honor organizations at UTSA to help build a strong community of honor students.
